Escape Route 36 - Listeners' Comments and Reviews
We've had lot's of encouraging feedback about the 'No Divider' album. Here are some examples:
iTunes
"Aaah, real music again.... this is what organic is to GM. You can feel the difference and you know it's good for you."
"... funk from heaven."
Roland/Sonar Producer Forum
"Well. I'll be. That's just awesome. Sounds GREAT to me... I love her straight-up honest voice"
"I really, really, like these songs, the arrangements, the vocals, the instruments. In my opinion, this album
is far better than a lot of the stuff currently available on the market. In fact, I just bought this album off
ITunes and I am looking forward to listening to the whole thing. Congrats on a great job to everyone!"
"I'm even more impressed by the talent of this young group. What an incredible future they have ahead of them. How is it possible that such young adults can develop such an enormous amount of musical talent so early in life? I'm stunned!"
"Good... God... How long have the lead guitarist and drummer been playing?
I think I'll be buying a copy of this album. Would all the kids be kind enough to sign it so I can put that in my collection of 'before they were big' signed CDs?"
Facebook
"Love the album..new fav on the ipod....all 10 songs are excellent....."

Album Review by Tony Autrey - Music Video Producer
First, a bit about myself: I’m 45 years old; picked up a guitar and started playing at 6yrs; played Bass and sang in my first garage band at 13yrs and have played well over 100 large shows on the road in Texas and surrounding states. I play the Bass, Electric and Classical Guitar, Mandolin, Drums, Keys, Ukulele and more. I’m a fan of all types of music including: Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Classical and Rap (less the negative hip hop). My ear for pitch and tempo is very acute. I can usually give you an A or E natural off the top of my head at any given time – other notes from there. I only mention the above to let you know that I do have a bit of an ear for music and I’m not just some kid that downloaded a track or two from Amazon and said “Hey, these guys are good – think I’ll write about it”. With that said, I’ll continue.
I met Josie and her dad through YouTube, concerning issues that I was having with HD video playback. I saw the video for
Where I Stand and I was captivated. The video had Josie playing acoustic guitar and I remember thinking she needed a band but I knew she had something unique in her voice. I asked her at one point to let me know when the CD was out. Recently, she did and I heard a few tracks on the ER36 website and was immediately hooked. If you’ve heard it, you know what I mean.
Well, I purchased the CD online (a fully autographed copy!) and suffice to say, I’m impressed….thoroughly impressed. Obviously, the first thing one will notice is the presentation. Everything is top notch work. From the colorful cover that catches the eye to the foldout with lyrics (yes, lyrics) that are included to the contrasting black and white image on the disk that remains when you remove it from the case. It is all so well thought out - I wish I had done it! Honestly, it’s one of the best album presentations that I have seen in a long time. It all looks “big name label” to me. Suffice to say… This CD presentation is one that will sell a CD with the music un-heard. Nice job!
When I first heard the music on the website, I quickly skimmed through a couple of songs (typical for me) and hit
What You Did Wrong. This is the song that made me sit back and say …YEAH! I played it a few times over then let the others play through. I believe I went through them all 4 or 5 times before I closed the web page. I couldn’t stop listening! I’ve heard a lot of music over the years and there’s not much that hooks me like that anymore. With most audio CD’s, I find myself putting in the disk then when it loads, I’ll hit the next button several times to get to a song that’s been going through my head or I’ll just skip through so I can hit the two or three songs that I like – you know the story. With
No Divider, I may put it in with a song in mind but I’m easily distracted by the others as I’m scanning through and will often end up listing to something else on the way to the one I had originally intended to play because it hooked me in. What I’m saying is – there’s a lot of really good music here!
The band is very talented and I’m interested to hear how each of you learned. Did you learn to play by ear, in the school band or from somewhere else? I’ve seen many bands together where each member had incredible talent but as a band, it just didn’t work because the mix of individual styles was all wrong. I’m not sure if ER36 just got lucky or if you went through that many musicians to find what you were looking for but the combination you have put together as a band is magic. It not only works but works well! Add in Josie with her incredible songwriting ability and mysterious vocal melodies and you end up with a CD full of very catchy tunes! I love this band!
The last thing I would like to comment on in particular is the overall production of the music. When it comes to judging how well an audio CD has been engineered or mixed, there’s only one test for me – Play it in the car. Any song recording that you might get from a friend with a song they wrote will probably sound good on your headphones or from the PC speakers but if you play it in the car, you’ll know if it’s a really good recording or not. Put in a couple of your favorite CD’s first and get it all set the way you like it with a nice high volume then put in ER36 and compare quality. On the Bose system in my car, the ER36 CD sounds incredible. I can play it very loud with no unusual bass hum, no apparent clipping or distortion, extreme silence in breaks and between songs, no piercing sounds from instruments, etc. Again, this is top notch work.
Currently most played on my iPod: No Divider, Turnaround, Hourglass, What You Did Wrong, Chainlink Fence, Tropical Isolation (my girlfriend calls it the “funky samba”) and
Stuck in Reverse. Not that any of the other tunes are any less good. These are just my personal favs. I guess my only real disappointment with the CD would be that
Where I Stand was not on it. ;-) Other than that, all I can do is say Thank You to the band for the music! I especially appreciate everyone autographing the sleeve for me. Someday when you’re big and famous, I’ll put it on ebay! LOL – just kidding. Sometime in the near future though, you may look out into the audience and see my face. Until then, keep your heads on straight, stay in school, stay away from drugs and send out some more of that good music when time permits.
I can’t wait for the next CD!
Sincerely,
Tony Autrey
